Manufacturers choose Plex because it puts the business in one place. Production scheduling, inventory, quality status and the state of every order live in a single system, and that record is what the warehouse runs on.
Inside the warehouse, every move material makes from receiving through put-away, replenishment, picking and loading has to match what the system says. Radios, printed pick lists and material handlers deciding for themselves where material goes can create a disconnect between what’s recorded in Plex and what’s reality.
That gap is what Cella was built to close. By integrating dire
ctly with Plex, the two systems run as one. Cella provides a guided workflow for material handlers, and every move that handler makes is immediately reflected in Plex.
The production schedule becomes work on the floor
Plex knows what has run, what is running, and what comes next. For the people responsible for feeding that schedule, it is the most valuable signal in the plant.
Cella puts that knowledge and context directly into the hands of material handlers, turning line replenishment into fully directed work.
It reads the schedule, works out what they need to move, and when, then assigns the job to a handler as a task on a scanner. Now instead of drivers searching aisles for their next task, material handlers receive detailed instructions outlining what to fetch, its location and its target line based on schedule priorities.
Plex and the floor see the same thing
Every scan, move and request in Cella is reflected in Plex the moment it happens.
When a material handler completes a move on a scanner in the warehouse, inventory is updated automatically in Plex in real time. Nothing waits for the end of a shift and nothing gets entered a second time at a desk.
This enables material handlers to work from more accurate information. Material on quality hold or a location that has run out shows up on the scanner before the pick happens rather than after it. A printed pick list cannot do that, because it stops being accurate as soon as it comes off the printer.
Two systems built to fit each other
Cella was built by people who spent decades inside Plex. The integration is pre-built and the setup work already done in Plex carries over, dramatically reducing implementation time and risk. The implementation team works as consultants, learning how a specific plant runs and configuring the system to match rather than imposing a standard setup.
Plex remains the system of record and Cella runs the material handling work against it, giving a plant one connected operation from the ERP through the warehouse floor. That fit is why Rockwell Automation has named Cella its preferred warehouse management partner, a selection made by a 30,000 person global organization.
